The New School’s Office of University Trademarks was formed to protect and license the university’s marks around the world. Those who wish to use the university’s identifying trademarks on commercial products must obtain permission from the Office of
University Trademarks. By licensing commercial products with the university’s marks, The New School seeks to promote the New School brand throughout the world. Trademark licensing allows the university to connect the brand with leaders, manufacturers,
collaborators, and retail partners, creating opportunities to bring to market distinctive offerings that provide innovative experiences to learners and consumers.
In addition to merchandise licensing, the Office of University Trademarks serves as a resource for The New School’s campus community. The office manages the filing and maintenance of The New School’s trademark registration and serves as the contact point
for general trademark registration inquiries and requests. These activities are handled in cooperation with the Office of the General Counsel.
